Vegetative parts: plants tufted or mat-Forming (branches much-branched above, forming shaving-brush like tufts: clumps growing out of a spreading stolon), 0.08–0.3 m tall, basal diameter 0.01–1 m, crown diameter 0.01–1 m, with stolons. Fertile culms branching or much branched, roughly warty, olivaceous, 0.1–0.3 m tall, diameter at base 0.5–1 mm, diameter at apex 0.2–0.3 mm. Sheaths loosely convoluted, 3–10 mm long, brown, apical margins narrowly membranous, hyaline shoulders tall, acute, hyaline shoulder 0.8–1.2 of sheath body length, apex, excluding the membranous lobes, obtuse. Sheath-mucro penicellate or awl- or needleshaped, straight and erect, 1–5 mm long. Males: male inflorescence with 1 spikelet or 2–5 spikelets, sparsely paniculate, 3–25 mm long, 2–5 mm wide. Male inflorescence spathes persistent, shorter than spikelets, coriaceous. Male flowers in spikelets. Male spikelets erect on stiff pedicels or sessile, oblong or obovate, apex rounded, 2.5–3.5 mm, 1–2.5 mm, with 1–2 flowers, pedicels absent ie spikelets sessile. Male bracts shorter than flowers, 1–1.5 mm long, ovate, obtuse, chartaceous, bract upper margin membranous, thinner texture than the body, bract awn minute or absent. Male flower 1.5–2.5 mm long. Male tepals sepals more rigid than petals, cartilaginous, petals chartaceous, oblong, inner and outer tepals the same length. Male outer lateral tepals as other tepals, glabrous. Anthers 0.8–1.3 mm long, exserted from the flowers. Females: female inflorescence with 1 spikelet. Female spathes shorter than the spikelets, persistent, coriaceous. Female spikelet sessile, oblong, apex rounded, 2.2–4 mm long, with 1 flowers (rarely specimens with some double flowered spikelets), with 1 sterile bracts. Female bracts shorter than flowers, 1.5–2 mm long, ovate, acute, chartaceous, apical margin membranous, paler than body of bract, awn minute or absent. Female flower 2.2–3 mm long, oblique (rather obscurely so), without a fleshy pedicel. Female tepals cartilaginous, glabrous and smooth, midrib flush with the tepal body, apices acute, inner and outer whorls the same length. Female outer lateral tepals like other tepals, 2.2–3 mm long. Female odd outer tepal oblong, 2.2–3 mm long. Female inner tepals oblong, 2.2–3 mm long. Staminodes present. Styles feathery, 3. Style bases free. Ovary with 1 locule, dehiscent.
