Vegetative parts: plants tangled, 0.1–0.3 m tall, basal diameter 0.3–0.6 m, crown diameter 0.3–0.6 m, with stolons. Fertile culms branching, smooth or finely rugulose, olivaceous, 0.1–0.6 m tall, diameter at base 1–2 mm, diameter at apex 0.1–0.5 mm. Sheaths loosely convoluted, 4–10 mm long, brown, apical margins coriaceous, like the rest of the body or narrowly membranous, hyaline shoulders small, rounded or tall, acute, hyaline shoulder 0.2–0.4 of sheath body length, apex, excluding the membranous lobes, obtuse or truncate. Sheath-mucro penicellate or clavate, straight and erect, 1–2 mm long, slightly free-standing from the culm. Males: male inflorescence with 2–5 spikelets or 6–10 spikelets, sparsely paniculate, 30–100 mm long, 4–8 mm wide. Male inflorescence spathes persistent, like the floral bracts, coriaceous. Male flowers in spikelets. Male spikelets erect on stiff pedicels or sessile, elliptical, apex obtuse, 4–8 mm, 3–5 mm, with 4–8 flowers, pedicels absent ie spikelets sessile. Male bracts shorter than flowers or as tall as flowers, 2–3.5 mm long, oblong, obtuse or acute, cartilaginous, bract upper margin like body of bract, bract awn minute or absent, dark brown. Male flower 2.5 mm long. Male tepals sepals more rigid than petals, cartilaginous, petals membranous, oblong, inner and outer tepals the same length. Male outer lateral tepals conduplicate, glabrous or keel sparsely villous (very sparsely so). Anthers 1.2–1.5 mm long, exserted from the flowers. Pistillode present. Females: female inflorescence sparsely paniculate, 20–60 mm long, 3–5 mm wide, with 2–5 spikelets. Female spathes shorter than the spikelets, persistent, coriaceous. Female spikelet sessile, obovate, apex truncate or rounded, 4–6 mm long, with 1–2 flowers, with 0–1 sterile bracts. Female bracts as tall as flowers, 3.5–4.5 mm long, ovate, acute, cartilaginous, apical margin like rest of bract, same as body of bract, awn minute or absent. Female flower 3.5–4 mm long, curved, without a fleshy pedicel. Female tepals cartilaginous, glabrous and smooth or keels of lateral sepals sparsely villous (difficult to see indumentum), midrib flush with the tepal body, apices acute, inner and outer whorls the same length. Female outer lateral tepals conduplicate, 3.5–4 mm long. Female odd outer tepal oblong, 3.5 mm long. Female inner tepals oblong, 3.5–4 mm long. Staminodes present. Styles feathery, white, 3. Style bases free. Ovary with 1 locule, dehiscent. Fruit: seed (1.72–)1.79(–1.84) mm long, (0.88–)0.97(–1.2) mm in diameter, shape in side view elliptical, shape in diameter round in cross section (with two longitudinal grooves), tan, smooth.
