Vegetative parts: plants tangled (Forming dense, shaped cushions, similar to those of Anthochortus crinalis), 0.3–1 m tall, compact, without spreading rhizomes or stolons (possibly with stolons - material not adequate). Fertile culms branching, compressed. Margins of compressed culms ribbed distinct rib absent. Fertile culms smooth or finely warty, olivaceous, 0.2–1 m tall, diameter at base 0.8–1.5 mm, diameter at apex 0.2–0.4 mm. Branch axil indumentum absent or present. Sheaths persistent, with no abscission line, closely convoluted, 10–20 mm long, initially same as culm, later brown, apical margins narrowly membranous, hyaline shoulders absent or membranous margins continuing behind awn, hyaline shoulder 0.1 of sheath body length, apex, excluding the membranous lobes, acute. Sheath-mucro penicellate or awl- or needleshaped, straight and erect, 2–7 mm long, sheath grading gradually into acuminate awn. Males: male inflorescence with 1 spikelet. Male inflorescence spathes caducous, shorter than spikelets, chartaceous, rather different from the bracts, as more like the sheaths. Male flowers in spikelets. Male spikelets erect on stiff pedicels or sessile, obovate, apex rounded, 10–15 mm, 5–10 mm, with 3–6 flowers, pedicels absent ie spikelets sessile. Male bracts taller than flowers or more than twice as tall as flowers, 5–15 mm long, linear or oblong, acute or acuminate, cartilaginous, bract upper margin like body of bract, bract awn minute or absent or less than half as long as the bract body, lower bracts much longer than upper bracts. Male flower 3.5–4 mm long. Male tepals sepals and petals the same rigidity, cartilaginous, linear, inner and outer tepals the same length. Male outer lateral tepals conduplicate, keel sparsely villous. Anthers 2–2.6 mm long, exserted from the flowers. Pistillode present. Females: female inflorescence sparsely paniculate, 10–15 mm long, 5–7 mm wide, with 1 spikelet or 2–5 spikelets (rarely two spikelets). Female spathes longer than the spikelets, not obscuring spikelet, persistent, cartilaginous. Female spikelet sessile, obovate, apex truncate, 10–15 mm long, with 1–2 flowers (rarely), with 1 sterile bracts (the upper bract is sterile, not the lower). Female bracts at least twice as long as flowers, 10–15 mm long, linear, acute or acuminate, cartilaginous, apical margin like rest of bract, same as body of bract, awn minute or absent. Female flower 5–5.5 mm long, without a fleshy pedicel. Female tepals cartilaginous, keels of lateral sepals sparsely villous, midrib flush with the tepal body, apices acute, inner and outer whorls the same length. Female outer lateral tepals like other tepals or conduplicate, 5–5.5 mm long. Female odd outer tepal linear or ovate, 5–5.5 mm long. Female inner tepals linear or ovate, 5–5.5 mm long. Staminodes present. Styles feathery, white, 3. Style bases free. Ovary with 1 locule, dehiscent. Fruit: seed 2 mm long, 1.52 mm in diameter, shape in side view elliptical, shape in diameter round in cross section, tan.
