Vegetative parts: plants mat-Forming?, 0.4–0.6 m tall, with stolons. Fertile culms sparingly branched, finely rugulose, olivaceous, 0.4–0.6 m tall, diameter at base 0.5–0.7 mm, diameter at apex 0.3–0.5 mm. Sheaths closely convoluted, 6–11 mm long, olivaceous, apical margins coriaceous, like the rest of the body or narrowly membranous, hyaline shoulders absent or membranous margins continuing behind awn, hyaline shoulder 0.01 of sheath body length, apex, excluding the membranous lobes, rounded. Sheath-mucro penicellate, straight and erect, 2–4 mm long, barely distinguishable from the culm. Males: male inflorescence with 1 spikelet or 2–5 spikelets (mostly just 1), racemose, 10–25 mm long, 2–5 mm wide. Male inflorescence spathes persistent, like the floral bracts, cartilaginous, slightly smaller than the bracts. Male flowers in spikelets. Male spikelets erect on stiff pedicels or sessile, elliptical or obovate, apex truncate, 10–15 mm, 3–6 mm, with 3–4 flowers, pedicels absent ie spikelets sessile. Male bracts more than twice as tall as flowers, 6–12 mm long, oblong, acute or acuminate, cartilaginous, bract upper margin like body of bract, bract awn minute or absent, concolorous, golden-brown. Male flower 3–4 mm long. Male tepals sepals more rigid than petals, cartilaginous, petals membranous, oblong, inner tepals shorter than outer tepals. Male outer lateral tepals conduplicate, glabrous or keel sparsely villous. Anthers 1.3–2 mm long, exserted from the flowers. Pistillode present. Females: female inflorescence with 1 spikelet (Occasionally with a small, underdeveloped spikelet below the main spikelet). Female spathes like floral bracts, persistent, coriaceous. Female spikelet sessile, oblong or obovate, apex truncate or rounded, 12–20 mm long, with 3–6 flowers, with 0 sterile bracts. Female bracts at least twice as long as flowers, 8–13 mm long, oblong, acute or acuminate, cartilaginous, apical margin like rest of bract, same as body of bract, awn minute or absent. Female flower 3–4 mm long, without a fleshy pedicel. Female tepals cartilaginous, glabrous and smooth or keels of lateral sepals sparsely villous, midrib flush with the tepal body, apices rounded or acute, inner whorl shorter than outer. Female outer lateral tepals conduplicate, 3–4 mm long. Female odd outer tepal oblong, 3–4 mm long. Female inner tepals oblong, 2.5–3.5 mm long. Staminodes present. Styles feathery, white, 3. Style bases free. Ovary with 2 locules, dehiscent.
