Vegetative parts: plants tangled, 0.1–0.3 m tall, with stolons. Fertile culms much branched, round (not compressed), solid or with a small central cavity, roughly warty, green, 0.1–0.3 m tall, diameter at base 0.9–1.8 mm, diameter at apex 0.3–0.5 mm, terminal parts flexuose. Branch axil indumentum absent. Clusters of sterile branches at the nodes of the fertile branches absent. Sheaths more than 1 per culm, persistent, with no abscission line, closely convoluted, 2.5–20 mm long, reddish-brown with tan/light-brown mottling, upper 1/3 in colour and texture similar to the lower 2/3, apical margins narrowly membranous, hyaline shoulders tall, acute, apex, excluding the membranous lobes, rounded or truncate. Male flower 2–3.8 mm long. Male tepals sepals and petals the same rigidity, chartaceous, oblong or elliptical or ovate, inner and outer tepals the same length. Male outer lateral tepals conduplicate, glabrous or keel sparsely villous. Anthers 1.2–1.6 mm long, exserted from the flowers. Females: female inflorescence with 1 spikelet. Female spathes shorter than the spikelets, persistent, coriaceous or cartilaginous. Female spathellae inconspicuous or absent. Female spikelet sessile, obovate or undifferentiated, apex undifferentiated, 3.5–4.5 mm long, with 1–3 flowers, with 0 sterile bracts. Female bracts as tall as flowers, erect, 2.5–4 mm long, elliptical or obovate (broad), rounded or obtuse, coriaceous or cartilaginous, apical margin membranous, same as body of bract, awn minute or absent.
