Welcome to the Restionaceae scratchpad

Welcome to the Restionaceae scratchpad, an authoritative resource of systematic information for the Restionaceae of the world.

Plants within the Restionaceae (also known as Restios or Restiads) family are perennial, rush-like monocot plants native to the southern hemisphere. These are widely found in southern Africa, Australasia, Southern America and south east Asia. Some species of Restionaceae are important as garden ornamentals, and others have been used extensively as thatching materials by some South African communities.
